Teacher Feedback

Why is it often ignored?

Many students make the mistake of fixating on grades while ignoring the valuable feedback from their teachers - this can really hold them back. Grades provide a quick snapshot of performance, but it's the feedback that truly drives understanding and improvement.

Activities

Discussion:

  • How much do you focus on the grade rather than the teacher feedback when you get a test back?

  • Would you be in favour of 'no grade' feedback? Why or why not?

  • How often do you complete response tasks to improve your understanding?

  • Which subjects or teachers give you the best feedback and why is it particularly helpful?

  • Which online learning platforms / apps give you the best (and worst) feedback on your answers?

  • Do you prefer self-marking or peer-marking tests compared to handing them in to the teacher? Why?
